Seit kurzem liegt das OpenSouce Packprogramm 7zip in der Version 4.20 vor.
7zip unterstützt neben dem hauseigenen 7z Format auch ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, GZIP, BZIP2, Z, TAR, CPIO, RPM und DEB.
Die Packraten des 7z Formates machen es zu einem der effektivsten Packprogramme die derzeit verfügbar sind.

Die x64 Editionen der Betriebssysteme können ab ende April bei Fachhändlern oder per MSDN bezogen werden. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt wird sich auch zeigen inwieweit Microsoft das Austauschprogramm (32bit gegen 64bit Editionen) für Kunden mit 64bit Prozessoren realisieren wird.

I am happy to announce that Windows Server 2003 SP1 has been shipped for English and German. Just a short time ago, at 5:20 PM Pacific Standard Time, the final call was made.
The update packages (self extracting EXE) is on http://windowsbeta.microsoft.com. They will also be available shortly on http://www.microsoft.com as well as through the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN). Please note that while Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition were also were released to manufacturing today they will not be available through the WindowsBeta website. They will be available through various partners in late April.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in this beta program for your help in testing Windows. It was a pleasure to work with you all and I hope to see you in future Windows projects.

Nachdem am Osterwochenende eifrig Suchende schon auf anderen Newsseiten fündig geworden sind, möchte ich ier auch eineige Worte zur ab sofort bei 1&1 verfügbaren DSL-Flatrate verlieren.
Nicht ganz im Sinne von 1&1 dürfte wohl die "aus Versehen" zu früh veröffentlichte Anzeige einer Computerzeitschrift sein, die die Anzeige etwas voreilig abgedruckt hatte. Auf den Webseiten von 1&1 stehen mit Stand 29.03.2005 13 Uhr immernoch die alten Preise für den DSL-Reselleranschluß der Telekom (ab 19,99 EUR).
Wie schon erwähnt fand sich aber am Wochenende folgende Anzeige in einer Computerzeitschrift:
NEC has released a firmwareupdate for it's popular CD/DVD+/-R(W) DualLayer device.
The update is not available through the international NEC sites but customers are adviced (when they call the NEC support) to update because of the huge ammount of corrected write strategies and increased numbers of supported media.
The updatefile contains the windows flash program too.
